It's Groundhog day!!! We still have a strong SW wind which has been blowing all night leaving the southern headlands with the cleanest conditions for a surf. Swell is still out of the south and most of the swell is just passing by the main breaks around town. The more exposed southern headlands do have waves while the open beaches are attracting all the swell but conditions are poor on these beaches. Peter Hudson and his sons Grant & Wayne have been surfing the waves around Pt. Macquarie all their lives. Peter is a multiple Australian Title holder in both short and longboards and Grant and Wayne have both competed on the WQS international tour. When they’re not out surfing, they’ll be coaching at their Pt. Macquarie Surf School.
The NSW lifesaving patrol season ended on Sunday 28 April.

Low pressure system near NZ is moving very slowly ESE and a high pressure system S of Tasmania is extending a ridge across the W Tasman Sea and into the Coral Sea. The two systems are directing S winds along NSW coast. Ridge is expected to weaken as the high moves further S and a low pressure trough approaches the coast from the west.
Winds: S 15 to 25 knots, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the evening.
Seas: 1 to 2m, decreasing below 1.5m around midday. Swell: S 2.5 to 3m.
