Forget about the main breaks around town and head to the open beaches and more exposed southern headlands for the early to mid morning surf. Wind is out of the west and conditions are clean with the wind tending SW mid morning leaving southern headlands with the cleanest conditions. Open beaches have waves around 4ft with bigger sets. Main breaks around town are flat unless you go north across the river. For surf lessons and equipment hire phone Port Macquarie Surf School 6584 7733.
Peter Hudson and his sons Grant & Wayne have been surfing the waves around Pt. Macquarie all their lives. Peter is a multiple Australian Title holder in both short and longboards and Grant and Wayne have both competed on the WQS international tour. When they’re not out surfing, they’ll be coaching at their Pt. Macquarie Surf School.
The NSW lifesaving patrol season ended on Sunday 28 April.
Please do not take any risks during the off-season period. No Flags = No Swim! The majority of beach patrols will again commence on the first day of the September School Holidays.
