A typical cool August westerly pattern has well and truly set in during the last fortnight. There have been small, clean waves in NSW and some bigger wind affected waves in Vic. After a very slow start to the season in the Alps, snow depth and quality has improved dramatically in recent weeks. Check this snow wave yesterday.

There were some great waves in WA late last week and pretty much all weekend. We will have a fresh feature up today focusing on SW West Oz. There were good waves in other regions too, but we will leave that to your imagination other than this sly tease.

It’s been pumping in WA the past few days. The swell is set to back off during the weekend, but there will still be some nice 4-6ft leftovers today with favourable offshore winds. SW WA set up yesterday.

Ry Craike surfing a new spot that has never been photographed before. Ry and Kerby Brown scored epic 6ft drainpipes at an obscure new break somewhere in WA under sunny skies and offshore winds. Stay tuned to Coastalwatch for more footage of the sick session in coming days.

What a great weekend of waves in and around Sydney. The wind remained offshore all day on Sat and well beyond lunchtime yesterday. Somewhere on the Coal Coast on Sunday morning.

Just when you thought it was all over, a fresh 4ft+ Sth groundswell pushed up the East Coast of NSW yesterday. It was small early, but by mid morning it was on again. How good was the late? Northern beaches mainstay lining up late on Sat afternoon.
