Solid Saturday Swell on the Surf Coast

After a long slow summer on the surf front, Victoria finally received some swell over the last week. On Thursday solid five foot lines appeared, with a forecast for bigger surf in the days to come.

Friday morning, there was some swell, but it wasn't till the afternoon that it really started pushing through with some solid eight foot plus sets coming through Bells and Winki on dark. Winds stayed pretty westerly, but at times it was southwest. It was pretty lumpy and bumpy but there were still a few drops to be had.

Saturday morning was a little smaller in the six-to-eight foot range. The wind was from the west again, but the surf was still pretty lumpy with a lot of current through the line-ups. It swung onshore southwesterly around mid morning. Fishoes was pumping on the high tide for the grommets and the loggers. Over the past few weeks the council has taken out a lot of car parking space to allow room for some buses to park, plus Rip Curl are setting up the competition site for Easter, so it was pretty hard to get a car park.

Sunday and Monday have been in the three-to-four foot range, pulsey southerly swell with light onshore winds, so there have been some really wackable waves around. The water isn't that cold down here yet, but the town is starting to fill up already with Easter holidays fast approaching.
