The Easter bunny was kind to Gold Coast surfers over the weekend. A low pressure system in the Tasman Sea pumped a long-range, straight-lined east-southeast swell in the three-to-five foot range onto the Coast from mid last week and continued through Easter just gradually dropping back on Sunday and Monday.
The weather was perfect with airbrushed, classic autumn conditions. There were clear skies, early offshore southwesterly winds that went around to the south-southeast later in the mornings, and big early high tides. D’bah and TOS were the pick early in the day on high tide and the points were firing later in the morning as the tide dropped and the wind went around to the south-southeast. The only drawback was the big crowds, particularly on the points, with every sort of craft ridden by surfers of all skill levels. A lot of patience was required but there was plenty of reward with some very sweet waves coming through.
