The best days so far this winter. Classic waves from Noosa to Angourie.
After a winter of mostly small fun swells, things came to life in SE Qld and Northern NSW last week. On Wednesday the 23rd. we enjoyed a solid SSE swell in the 3-5 ft range that was generated off a low pressure system in the southern Tasman. There was lots of rain and strong SE winds to go with it, but the point breaks were quite good.

Thursday
On Thursday, the low pressure system that caused the previous days swell had moved closer to New Zealand and another low pressure system had spun up off to the NE in the Coral Sea. It rained heavily, and even though there was plenty of swell, it was messy because the 2 different swells were crossing over. Once again the points that faced Nth were the pick.

Friday
On Friday morning the swell from the fresh Coral Sea low dominated. The swell direction was out of the ESE (the perfect angle) and solid, in the 4-6ft range and it built more during the morning. The winds were out of the SSW, so there wasn’t a drop of water out of place on the points. There were classic waves from Noosa to Angourie. It was the best day so far this winter.

Saturday
On Saturday the swell dropped a bit, but conditions were flawless. It was 3-5ft with the odd bigger set and the wind was offshore out of the WSW early. The weather had cleared up into a perfect sunny day. It was a wave fest, there lots more options due to the slight drop in swell and straighter offshore winds. There were quality beachies and the all the points were in top shape. – JC.
