COASTALWATCH Bringing the surf to you
Somewhere: Wednesday July 30, 2008

Some highlights from day one of The Search event
The Rip Curl Search event kicked off today, somewhere in Indonesia. The waves for the contest were pretty good! Call it overhead and good at most breaks, and double overhead and barreling up on others.

The afternoon action was the pick at the contest site. The dropping tide mean’t the barrels were staying open. Earlier on the higher tide, heaps of crew were getting pinched on the end section.

Kelly Slater was the man out there, dropping into a big old barrel, dissapearing, and emerging surfing switchstance.

Andy Irons and Parko also totally dominated their heats.
