COASTALWATCH Bringing the surf to you

Aloha from the North Shore.

Today showed more promise than the last few days. There was still a lot of cloud about frustrating the hell out of photographers, but the surf jumped through the day to a respectable solid 6'. Off The Wall was the pick of the spots with Rocky Rights a close second. We've still got those breezy trade winds but they help keep the clouds moving.

The crew who are staying along the Off The Wall to Backdoor stretch of beach were all over the rising north west peaks and when the sun came out the water colour looked like a tropical paradise.

The usual suspects dominated the water, Mick Fanning had four surfs, Jamie O'Brien was his manic self, Taj had a couple at Backdoor while newly qualified WCT surfer Michel Bourez ripped up Off The Wall. According to photogs at Rocky Point Bede Durbidge, Pancho Sullivan and Jarrod Sullivan were the stand outs.

They are now predicting two XXL swells back to back for later in the week and into the weekend. Crew have already left for Jaws and one crew even headed to Alaska to chase big stuff as the storm develops. Could be a good Thanksgiving Day.

Raining and cloudy early, but by 8am the sun started peaking between the patches of thick, dark clouds that seem to constantly stream in from the mountains behind the North Shore.

The swell was bigger today also. 4-5ft N-W with 10-15 knots of N-E trade winds which would occasionally swing East making the new swell clean and perfect.

OTW and Backdoor were a little wonky in the morning with Rocky Point being the pick and extremely crowded. All the pro's are back on deck after their little break the last few days during the smaller conditions.
