Pipeline was maxing out with only 4 bodyboarders getting drilled. Third reef was breaking with sets up to 15 feet Hawaiian style.

Sunset was a clean 8-10 ft with only 10 - 20 guys out max. Pipeline was easily 10ft and sometimes 12.

A new clean swell arrived on the rock in the early morning. Sunset is looking clean and glassy at 8-10 ft. Pipeline is
easily 10ft and sometime bigger. Conditions are clean and perfect. Backdoor has the occasional bomb. The swell is coming from the north west.

There is a clean 4'-5' swell from the north west hitting some of the reefs this morning. Sunset Point is crowded with the weekend crew and Off The Wall and Backdoor/Pipe area is swarming with Bodyboarders.

The forecast for today is a swell in the 8'-10' range. It might build during the day but right now it's grey, overcast, windy with light rain and blown out surf in the 3' range. What happened to that 30' day? We didn't see it.

First 'grey' light this morning and it's raining again!! The 'high surf levels' that were predicted for today are nowhere to be seen.

Swell has jumped back up over night. North, North-West swell in the 8'-10' range. Trades are blowing with some very strong gusts at times and are suppose to get up around the 40 klms range today.

The giant is awaking! First light and the new swell has started to roll in. There wasn't much ocean noise during the night but when the sun came you could see the white water at Sunset up from our apartment.

We're still in the small swell and cloudy conditions and for something completely different it looks like it's going to rain again. The 'Windward and Marka (mountain)' showers have been driving us all crazy for days.

A few tiny waves at Rocky Point and Pupukea but nothing worth talking about. Crew are definitely bailing out of the North Shore.

Not much has changed this morning. A small (and that is very small) increase In swell from yesterday. It's gone from flat to around 1'-2'. They are talking of a 'double digit' swell that could reach advisory levels over the weekend so we'll wait and see.

An early morning check revealed a very flat North Shore. There had been no need to rush out of bed this morning, in fact there is probably no where to rush to today unless you where catching an early morning flight back to OZ.

Hawaii: Aussie Pipeline Champion - Monday December 17, 2007
It was Australia day today here on the north shore. The Aussie ruled. Bede Durbidge took home the richest prize purse in pro surfing history with prizes and cash totaling US$75,000.

The sun is shining and the trades are up. The tourists are happy but the surfers are suffering. Small conditions again today with strong easterly trades.

This is the morning surf check. Junk, wind and rain. The standup paddle guy is Perry Hatchett, the ASP Head Judge at inside, inside Sunset beach. He's at a break that the kids learn at.

Today saw Occy's last heat in the WCT. He led his heat in the Pipeline Masters until the last minute when Troy Brooks score an 8 pointer at Backdoor.
