Surf Report Mid Coast NSW

by Peter Hudson
  • 6/03/2015 6:46 AM | Report

    Today's rating - Pretty Good

Light SW wind is producing clean conditions on our southern headlands. Swell is south and big although most of it is passing the southern headlands. Open beaches are big but messy. Main breaks around town will have some fun waves most of the day but the morning surf will be best. Wind will remain light all day but will swing SE to NE late in the afternoon. For surf lessons and board hire contact Port Macquarie Surf School on 6584 7733.

Marine Outlook

A high pressure ridge extending across the state from the west has moderated winds over most of the coast, although southern waters are likely to remain windy today as another front moves into the Tasman Sea. A weak trough is forecast to linger in the south on Saturday, while remaining areas experience a shift to northeasterly winds as a high becomes established over the Tasman Sea.
Winds: Variable about 10 knots becoming northwest to northeasterly 10 to 15 knots in the middle of the day then becoming variable about 10 knots in the evening.
Seas: Around 1 metre.
Swell: Southerly 2.5 to 4 metres, decreasing to 2 to 2.5 metres around midday. Weather: Partly cloudy. Caution: Large and powerful surf conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as crossing bars by boat and rock fishing.
