Surf Report Info

Region: South West Rocks to Forster - Tuncurry

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Pretty Good

Wind is light and offshore producing clean conditions on most beaches. Swell is SE. Open beaches worth a look for the morning surf. Expect the waves to pick up as the tide drops. Southern corners will have reasonable but small waves all day with best waves around the lower tide. Main breaks around town will offer a few waves during the afternoon on the incoming tide. Marine Outlook

A low pressure system off the southern New South Wales coast is moving slowly east, and will deepen over the Tasman Sea. This development will bring increasing winds to the southern coast early today, easing by Saturday as the low moves away and a strong high to the south of Tasmania extends a ridge northwards. Another small low centre is likely to develop off the southern coast during Sunday. Strong Wind Warning for Friday for Macquarie Coast
Winds: Westerly 15 to 20 knots, reaching up to 30 knots offshore south of Crowdy Head in the morning. Winds turning south to southwesterly in the early afternoon.
Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres offshore south of Port Macquarie.
Swell: Southerly 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres later in the evening. Weather: Mostly sunny. 30% chance of a shower offshore south of Crowdy Head late this afternoon and evening.
