Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Excellent

Conditions have moderated on the South Coast overnight, and winds have swung a bit offshore from the NW at around 12 knots. Swell is pretty big and raw, with surf around 6' ( possibly bigger on the big sets ) along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch, and clean 3 - 5' between The Dump and Knight's. A few spots out the other side of Victor will be worth a look as well, but Waits and Parson's will be out of control unless you have a jetski. Winds are forecast to tend more Westerly then SW at 20 - 25 knots later, so sheltered spots will be the go aftre lunch. Swell will ease a bit during the day.
