Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Excellent

Conditions have eased temporarily on the South Coast, with offshore NW winds back to around 10 knots... but it'll be short lived. There's a solid swell running Surf and the Middleton - Goolwa stretch is pretty raw at 6'+, with waves are breaking a long way out. The Victor - Port Elliot stretch is semi clean with surf ranging from 2 - 6', and the reef magnets are picking up some good sized slabs. It will get even bigger today, but anywhere not completely shaded from Westerlies is gonna get smashed by gale force winds. Highly sheltered spots will be worth a look later today as winds tend more W-SW, maybe even right inside Victor. Bring a hat... hail is possible, it might even snow....
