Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Pretty Good

Westerly winds are gusting near 40 knots on the South Coast this morning and conditions are completely blown out along all exposed stretches. Surf is around 4' along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch, and 2 - 3' around at Chiton / Gap. Swell is gonna build all day today but initially will have a lot of west in it - so sheltered spots will miss it. Later this arvo as the swell kicks around a bit a few spots out of the wind near Victor and Port Elliot may be worth a look. Winds will stay strong out of the W -SW all day, and the arvo will be bigger.
