Region: Chiton Rocks
Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

The South Coast is looking OK early this morning with cross-shore West winds around 10 knots, but conditions are on the turn. Surf is around 4' along the Middleton - Day St. stretch, with a few bigger sets down toward Cliffs and Goolwa. It's clean and 2 - 3'around at Chiton / Gap, Waits and Parson's will be bigger, Waits Point nicely out of the wind... for the moment. The forecast predicts winds will shift onshore as a Southerly change moves through, probably during the morning. It's not overly strong, but a few hours of SW-S winds in the 15 - 20 knot range are possible, easing mid - late arvo. It'll probably get bumpy, then sloppy, from mid morning onward.
