Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Excellent

The South Coast is flirting with offshores for the first time in weeks this morning, and conditions are semi-clean with WNW winds around 5 knots. Surf is around 2 - 3' along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch, with glassy 3 - 4' waves around at Waits and Parson's. It should be OK for the next few hours with Westerly winds not much over 10 knots, but a weak front will turn winds onshore SW for the arvo. Spots like Middleton Bay / Point may be OK after lunch but your best bet is to get onto it this morning.
