Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Pretty Good

We finally have offshores on the South South Coast this morning with NNE winds around 10 knots, but a week of SSE winds have left it pretty wobbly. Surf is lumpy / glassy around 2 - 3' along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch, and 1 - 2' around at Chiton / gap. Waits and Parson's will be bigger, Parson's will probably favour the Easterly component in the wind. The forecast predicts E-NE winds at 10 -15 knots for the rest of the day so it'll generally be clean, but it really needs a good Westerly breeze to push all the lumps back past Goolwa.
