Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Excellent

Looking good on the South Coast early with 10 knot offshore NW winds early, and swell lining up pretty well. Surf is around 4' along the Middleton - Day st.stretch, and there are some bigger sets sneaking in down toward Cliffs and Goolwa. There are clean 2 - 4' waves around at Chiton / Gap, Waits and Parson's will be pretty big but Waits will favour the wind. The forecast predicts winds will pick up from the West during the morning and may gust near 30 knots later. Exposed spots will become blown out, and a SW change will finish off the job after lunch. Part sheltered spots like Middleton Bay may be OK late arvo.
