Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Pretty Good

Winds are 'round to the SW at 15 knots on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are a bit bumpy despite a well lined up swell. There are bumpy 2 - 3' waves along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch, with 1 - 2' waves around at Chiton. Waits and Parson's will be a bit bigger, and the Point at Waits may offer shelter for a while as long as the wind is more West than South. Eventually the whole coast looks like it will be hammered by fresh onshore SE-S winds over 20 knots, and the arvo will be a sloppy mess. The next couple of hours are about as good as it'll get for the next few days.
