Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Pretty Good

There's a fairly solid swell on South Coast this morning, with 15 knot West winds early. Surf is around 6' along the Middleton - Goolwa stretch and a bit blown out, but The Dump to Knight's stretch has waves from 2 - 5' and is offering part shelter. The swell still probably has a bit too much west in it for those really sheltered spots to fire. The forecast predicts winds will tend more onshore SW later, and may gust to around 30 knots this morning before easing mid arvo.
