Surf Report Info

Region: Chiton Rocks

Reporters location:

Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

    Today's rating - Excellent

The South Coast is looking very good again this morning with light offshore North winds and clean, glassy conditions. Swell has picked up a bit with waves around 4' along the Middleton - Day St. stretch and a few bigger sets down toward Cliffs and Goolwa. There are glassy 3' waves around at Chiton / Gap, Waits and Parson's will be bigger and both beaches will be glassy early. N-NW winds are forecast to pick up during the morning, and it may get a bit blowey along exposed stretches. Swell should build a bit this morning, so part sheltered spots like Middleton Bay or The Dump will be popular with weekend crowds. Dunno if spots requiring more swell will do it today, best go for a bit of a drive and see for yourself ;).
