Region: Chiton Rocks
Coastalwatch surf reporters are the saltiest locals around. Part fish, part shark, part human, they live for the waves and are usually more local than the locals. They’ll be up before dawn waiting for first light to reveal the days surf conditions and can sense a change of wind from a sparrows fart. Each reporter covers a region of coastline which includes many number of surf spots and beaches. Please consider there may be possible variations between this report and your local spot due to differences in orientation to the coast and any local idiosyncrasies that may also effect the swell and weather patterns.

Today's rating - Excellent
The South Coast's endless winter of offshores rolls on this morning, with light North winds and clean conditions early. Surf is around 4' along the Middleton - Day St. stretch, with a few bigger sets down toward Cliffs and Goolwa. It's 2 - 3' and glassy around at Chiton / Gap, Waits and Parson's will be bigger, but again probably struggling to hold the sets. The forecast predicts winds will shift NW and pick up to around 15 knots during the morning, tending West at 20 knots after lunch with a SW change tonight. Exposed stretches may get a bit bumpy mid arvo, but part sheltered spots like Middleton Bay will hold up pretty well.
