AUSTRALIAN OPEN OF SURFING | FORECAST PARTNER

The world stage is currently up and running at Manly Beach in Sydney with the top seeds of the 2017 Australian Open Of Surfing taking to the 2-3 foot conditions on the first day of Autumn.

World Champion Tyler Wright didn't have a worry in the world flying through her round three heat this morning with a new year and title defending opportunity, she looked fresh and strong. Wright proceeded straight through to round four along with fellow Aussies Felicity Palmateer, Philippa Anderson, Dimity Stoyle, Sally Fitzgibbons, Bronte Macaulay, Holly Wawn, Keely Andrew, Claire Bevilacqua, Nikki Van Dijk and Isabella Nichols.

In the men's event Julian Wilson returned to Manly and smashed a perfect ten out before confidently moving through to round three. He'll be joined by Mitch Coleborn, Jack Freestone, Dion Atkinson, Davey Cathels and Mitch Crews ahead the remainder of round two being completed on Thursday. 

Alongside the surfing the world's top BMX riders and Skateboarders have been utilising every dry moment in the huge beach bowl. As always the Manly foreshore is buzzing with entertainment and world class sport that will only ramp up into the weekend.

THE MANLY SURF FORECAST 

Thursday 2 March
E windswell. Around 2ft+.
WIND: Early light W to light and variable tending E 5 to 15 knots during the afternoon.
WEATHER: Cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm. Heavy falls possible.

Friday 3 March
E windswell. Around 2ft+, potentially picking up to 2 – 3ft during the afternoon.
WIND: Early light SW tending S 5 to 15 knots during the morning and freshening to 10 to 20 knots later.
WEATHER: Cloudy. Very high (95%) chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm.

Saturday 4 March
ENE swell around 1 - 3ft, easing during the afternoon. Possibly offset by rising SE swell later in the day.
WIND: Light SSE early, tending S 15 to 25 knots during the day, then SSW 20 to 30 knots later.
WEATHER: Cloudy. Very high (95%) chance of showers. Heavy falls possible.

Sunday 5 March (FINALS DAY)
Mix of E and SE windswells around 2ft, with scope for steep rising S windswell towards 2 – 3ft during the afternoon.
WIND: SSW 15 to 30 knots, easing to 15 to 25 knots later.
WEATHER: Cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers. The chance of a thunderstorm.
