Ain’t That Swell is back after the wrap up of the Australian leg of the World Tour. In the wake of an intense couple of months Jed and Vaughan, in their typical rough as guts way tackle their comment board and one of the most intense rumours circulating the surf industry regarding Owen Wright's injury at Pipeline in 2015 (1:35:00).

The growth of this rumour was largely ignored in surfing circles until Derek Hynd posted it on his social media earlier this year. Then, this month a listener posted a question to the Ain't That Swell crew to which they decided to air it and elevate it from its status as a damaging whisper.

Rumors are a form of sense-making. They are the result of group thinking, discussion and interpretation around an ambiguous situation; when events or circumstances don't fit together well in the eyes of individuals. But what is it about Owen's accident, injury and rehabilitation that needs more sense made of it?

Vaughan gets angry about this rumours evolution and leads us to question why it is that we are all so quick to formulate, believe and discuss bad things about people we envy or look up to.

As well as tackling cyber-slander, the boys get cover the five best things about Bells, marvel at the incredible phenomena that is Kelly Slater saving pro surfers lives, weigh in on who's over and under performing as the tour heads for Brazil, (1:35:00) and shudder at the infamous curse that took a piece out of Jordy Smith’s tooth.
