Global Surftag and Jim Beam are proud to announce Jim Beam’s ongoing support of the Surftag National Series. In a show of commitment to the competition, Jim Beam has signed on for a further three years as naming rights sponsor. The announcement of this new deal will see the series through to its 10th year of competition in 2011.

“The three year deal is fantastic news for boardriding clubs all around Australia, as the Jim Beam Surftag National Series offers the clubs a platform to compete for a national title. Jim Beam’s support of grass roots surfing has been amazing over the past five years and to secure the Jim Beam Surftag National Series for a further three years is exciting for Australian surfing,” said Global Surftag Managing Director Steve Harrison.

“The Jim Beam National Surftag Series continues to grow and encourage great talent. We are proud to put the Jim Beam name to grass roots surfing in Australia and we look forward to supporting the series for many more years to come,” said Kel Constantine, Sponsorship & Events Manager BEAM Global Spirits and Wines.

2008 has seen Surftag go from strength to strength with defending Jim Beam Surftag National Champions, North Narrabeen Boardriders, becoming the first team in seven years to win back-to-back titles on their home beach.

Proud team mates Nathan Webster, Nathan Hedge, Christo Hall, Ozzie Wright and Chris Davidson won The North Narrabeen club $10,000 and the title of Australia’s No.1 Boardriding Club in March 2008.

The North Narrabeen team finished ahead of some great teams with the likes of Taj Burrow (Yallingup), Joel Parkinson (Snapper Rocks), Kai Otton and Dayyan Neve (North Steyne) taking time out from the World Championship Tour to represent their local Boardriding Clubs.
