Hawaiian Swell Journal, Friday November 12

Thursday/Friday, November 4-5
The stormy conditions continued Thursday and Friday, with strong side shore winds from the north-east. Thursday was still solid with 10 foot plus swell from the north-west. Friday was still 8 foot from the north-north-west but during the day it decreased quickly with most breaks in the four-six foot range. Sunset was the pick of the spots both days with the Hic pro WQS event finishing on Friday. Congratulations Billy Kemper from Hawaii and Australia’s Jack Perry, who placed second.

Saturday/Sunday, November 6-7.
The north-north-west swell was almost gone and the wind had dropped a lot and swung more offshore from the east. A new north-west swell came in for Saturday and Sunday producing two-to-four foot waves at the more open spots like Chins Reef and Rocky Point. Rocky Point was the pick of the spots with the crossed-up swell and light winds. With everyone starting to arrive on the Islands, the morning sessions was fairly crowded.

Monday, November 8
This was the day of the week with a clean long period north-west swell with light trade winds from the east. The swell was four-five foot and consistent at most spots. With sand yet to be washed off the reefs, the spot to be was Rocky Point. You could tell every man and there dog was out. Just to the east hundred meters down the beach Gas Chambers had the odd bomb. The sets were few and far between but no one was out!

Tuesday, November 9
By Tuesday, the swell had pretty much gone and conditions were perfect for the SUPS, longboards and people learning to surf. Chins Reef had them all.

Wednesday, November 10
A new little north-west three footers came in with light to moderate east winds. Again Rockies was the spot and for some reason it was empty no one around.

Forecast
Outlook is pretty small until Sunday, November 14, when a good-sized 10 foot plus clean long period west north-west swell is expected. Tune in next week for video and photos from what could well be the first good Pipe Day of the season.
