Safety Camera & Weather Feeds for Wivenhoe Dam

The flood disaster of 2011 in Brisbane led to improvements in the operational strategy for the flood mitigation compartment of Wivenhoe Dam.

Seqwater has contracted CoastalCOMS to deploy an Operational Safety Camera at Wivenhoe Dam. This camera looks at the spillway just on the outside of the dam wall. Not only is it important for the operational staff but also for the general public to view the water levels in the spillway outside of the Dam.

With a category 2 cyclone crossing the coast from the Coral Sea on Friday the 20th the new operational safety camera will be a new and exciting tool for monitoring the water levels at Wivenhoe Dam.

Weather feeds provided by the Bureau of Meteorology will also be processed by our Environmental Data Management System. This will provide Seqwater with both climate data and video clips for further data analysis and reviews of the Wivenhoe operational strategy.
