A Beer With Bede

33-year-old Bede Durbidge sustained a potentially life-threatening injury in the early rounds of the 2015 Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii. He broke his pelvis in two places and was bed-ridden into the new year with his wife and daughter by his side.

In the months since he has been disciplined in taking his rehab slowly and extensively and is now out of his wheelchair, off his crutches and able to walk slowly down the long stretches of Gold Coast sand to the gentle autumn waves with 5-year-old Willow.

To keep the elite athlete busy on his road back to surfing, Durbidge has been busily putting the final touches on the Balter Brewery and beer company he's jointly building with his good mates Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson and Josh Kerr. The brewery has opened it's doors in Currumbin on the Gold Coast and the boys are excited about flowing the refreshing taste out into beer taps and bottle shops around the country.

He's also stoked to be running his fourth annual Fox Grom Shootout next weekend at Stradbroke Island, getting amongst the kids and families. Listen to Bede's chat with us above.
