Back in 2005, 8-year-old Mikey Wright took a set wave on a solid day at Bells Beach, dropping in on a Quiksilver executive. After an impressive display and a shower of spray, Quiksilver presented him with a contract.
Twelve years later, he's front and centre of Quik's Radical Times campaign. He's established a new status quo in free-surfing and is giving the 2017 Quiksilver Pro a red hot go one year after he shook up the draw with an explosion in the first World Championship tour event of the year.
He's back to give it 150% and unlike the rest of the athletes, he's got nothing to lose.
We spent a day with Mikey and his World Champ big sister Tyler, to find out just what is behind the mullet, his troopy and his dog named Bacon.
