One Of Them Is Not Like The Others

As warm and comfortable that neoprene has become as a wetsuit material, it's pretty bad for the environment. It's a non-renewable, petroleum-based material that has overtaken the surfing world and has been used since the '70s. We've all got one in one form or another.

Along comes Patagonia with it's innovative, earth loving thinking and initiatives. Not taking no for an answer and pushing the limits of the existing products on the market to create the world's first plant-based wetsuits to say goodbye to neoprene forever.

Now don't be freaked out about the 'plant-based' bit, these guys are serious! (see video below) The neoprene-free Yulex® is just a natural rubber and maintains the highest performance and latest features available in any other top brand including fast-drying thermal linings, floating front and back zips - that are also replaceable and 6 different temperature levels from 0 to 24 degrees C.

To top it off Patagonia isn't going to be monopolising their forward thinking, they want the world to benefit and are sharing the technology with all the leading brands. Here's hoping it's one small step, followed by a giant leap.

The range will be available in March 2016 for Australia and Patagonia committed to converting all products to the neoprene free material by the end of 2017!
