Murky future for the men in the grey suits

Grey nurse sharks, Labradors of the Sea, need attention as the New South Wales Government asks for the public to comment on adequate protection for their resting places.

In April this year, the New South Wales Government decreased protection for the endangered grey nurse shark and opened up some of this gentle cruiser's critical habitat areas to recreational fishing. Now the New South Wales Government is considering where to go next with grey nurse shark conservation.

The Australian Marine Conservation Society says, "they need to hear it shouted from the rooftops that these threatened creatures need the greatest protection possible. They need to be told to increase, not decrease safeguards for this species. Please help the NSW Government write the chapter that ensures grey nurse sharks live happily ever after."

Click here to show your support for Australia's marine life and send a submission to the New South Wales Government telling them to ensure there is adequate protection and safe havens for grey nurse sharks. Public comment is open until Friday 26th August, so have your say…
