In a world of imports and pop-outs, Island Surfboards remains one of the most reputable and experienced manufacturers of top quality, hand-made surfing equipment. With innovative ideas, and almost unrivalled experience, Island prides itself on the ability to design and manufacture any board to suit all varieties of rider and conditions. Located at the back of the Cowes store, Island's surfboard factory produces top quality custom and stock boards. Standard short boards, fish, mini mals, classic mals, kneeboards and much more are available from stock, or custom-made to suit your needs. A shaper is usually on hand to discuss your requirements, and you can even watch your board as it is created.
Our Shapers include Glyndyn Ringrose (ex - WCT surf), Greg Hogan, Terry Klemm (Victorian shaping LEGEND) and Dean Bould (kneeboards).
If the price tag on a custom is not quite what you are ready for, Island also imports its own fiberglass and softboard range from China. Each year Glyndyn and other staff members visit the factory, run through designs and choose materials, which then go into manufacturing the range found in store not long after, resulting in a good quality, well-designed and competitively priced new board.
