  • Swell analysis

    Summary
Monday’s flat sea-state gives way to a combined increase in South and ENE swells on Tuesday; translating into wind-affected 1 to 2ft+ surf across the region, with moderate SSE winds taking the shine off conditions throughout the day.

That should, however, lead in a further improvement on Wednesday. The arrival of a longer period pulse of Southerly groundswell shows good potential for robust 3 to 4ft+ sets across southern exposures, albeit under light to moderate south to SE winds. This impending south-swell arises from a deep, complex mid-latitude low now moving below Tasmania and the Tasman Sea. The north-eastward movement of a deep low pressure cell and associated SSW fetch below Tasmania is projected to generate a powerful pulse, showing peak size early on Wednesday before slowly easing from there.
