    The Rundown
A good to excellent short-term outlook presents a good case for spending plenty of time in the water over the next few days. The favourable pattern sets in as a low pressure trough to the north deepens and extends southward, off the Southwest Coast. Initially the emerging pattern establishes a strong and gusty SE airflow across the region on Tuesday, before the pressure gradient gradually slackens, precipitating a shift to the east at more manageable speeds from Wednesday to Friday.

At the same time there’s no shortage of new swell inbound across the region; starting out with moderate levels of SW swell holding around the 3 to 4ft mark on Tuesday, ahead of a new and strong pulse of SSW groundswell arriving throughout Wednesday. This emanates from a broad WSW trailing a deep Southern Ocean low moving below the mainland; setting up a refracted pulse of SSW groundswell inbound from 205 to 210 degrees. The bulk of this energy looks like moving in throughout the morning and into the early afternoon, peaking in the vicinity of 6ft+ across exposed coasts before scaling down from there.
