Lincoln Taylor Wins The Chiko Alley Classic

LINCOLN Taylor (North Stradbroke Island, Qld) claimed the AUD$6,000 Chiko Alley Classic, with an epic two-metre, south-east swell providing reeling right-hand waves for today’s final action.

The victory, Taylor’s second win from three events as part of this year’s Chiko Queensland Championship Circuit (QCC), puts the powerful goofy footer in a commanding position ahead of the concluding Chiko Burleigh Classic in a fortnight.

Posting a combined two-wave heat total of 14.57 (out of a possible 20) in today’s final, Taylor out-pointed Blake Ainsworth (Snapper Rocks, Qld – 13.37), ratings rival Nathan Hedge (North Narrabeen, NSW / Buderim, Qld – 11.90) and local Alley Boardrider Brendan Leckie (Currumbin, Qld – 11.33) who finished second to fourth respectively.

Chiko Queensland Championship Circuit Ratings (after three events)
1. Nathan Hedge (North Narrabeen, NSW / Buderim, Qld) – 2590
2. Lincoln Taylor (North Stradbroke Island, Qld) – 2500
3. Jay Phillips (Snapper Rocks, Qld) – 1850
4. Oney Anwar (Indonesia / Palm Beach, Qld) – 1850
5. Noah Lane (Burleigh Heads / Rainbow Beach, Qld) – 1815

Based on competitors’ best three-of-four results, the series’ top two athletes will get the chance to compete against the world’s best surfers at the 2013 ASP World Tour Quiksilver Pro Trials.

To ensure the QCC‘s top two athletes are performing at their optimum for the Quiksilver Pro Trials, Surfing Queensland in conjunction with Surfing Australia will provide two-days of training at the world-class Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre.

The 2012 QCC boasts a stellar AUD$30,000 prize-pool, with an extra AUD$500 randomly awarded to four competitors who compete in all four events.

Will Morrison (Currumbin, Qld) walked away with the highly sought after XXXX Summer Bright Lager ‘Wave of the Weekend,’ with four cartons of XXXX Summer Bright Lager after registering the event’s highest single wave score of a 9.33 (out of a possible 10 points) across the two-day competition.

The Chiko Alley Classic is proudly supported by Chiko, XXXX Summer Bright Lager, Australia’s Surfing Life, Five and half Sunglasses, the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre, The Alley Boardriders and Surfing Queensland.
