Surfcoach.Com Backs World’s Largest Junior Teams Surfing Event At Duranbah

Surfcoach.com is the newnaming rights sponsor for the world’s largest junior inter-club surfing teamsevent to be held at Duranbah, NSW, on 15th September.

Hosted by the Kirra Surfriders Club, the Surfcoach.com Junior Kirra TeamsChallenge 2012 will attract more than 130 of Australia’s best junior surfers.Twenty-two boardriders club teams from Queensland and NSW have alreadyconfirmed their entry.

Surfcoach.com is an interactive website designed to help people improve theirsurfing. It provides instructional video packages and training cards for alllevels of surfing.

“It’s always the intent of Surfcoach.com to make better surfers and the betteryou are the more fun you have,” said Surfcoach.com founder Martin Dunn.

“Surfcoach.com is designed to motivate surfers to get better and backing theJunior Kirra Teams Challenge is a natural extension of those aims.”

Event director John Robin said the Surfcoach.com Junior Kirra Teams Challengewas designed to educate junior boardriders about team surfing.

“The idea of the whole event is to give the juniors a taste of the excitementof a team surfing event,” said Robin, who oversees the world’s largest surfingteams event the Volcom Kirra Teams Challenge.

 “This is very different to surfing as an individual and then they knowwhat to expect when they step up into their club’s main events and other seniorboardriders events.”

The format of the event will be the same as the Kirra Teams Challenge with eachclub submitting teams of six including two Under 14 surfers, two Under 16surfers and two Under 18 surfers.

Clubs competing include: Coolum, North Shore, Mudjimba, MNM, Merewether,Snapper, Le-Ba, Kawana, Alley, Kirra, North End, Cabarita, Kingscliff, Noosa,Burleigh, Windansea, North Narrabeen. There will also be a girls’ team made upof some of the Gold Coast’s best junior female surfers.

The winning team will win a two-day coaching camp at the Hurley SurfingAustralia High Performance Centre at Casuarina.

The Surfcoach.com Junior Kirra Teams Challenge 2012 is proudly supported byKirra Surfriders Club, Surfing Australia, the Hurley Surfing Australia HighPerformance Centre, Surfing Queensland, the Australian Government’s IllicitDrugs In Sport (IDIS) program, Volcom, Banana Wax, Rainbow Bay Surf Life SavingClub and Pushshove.
