Neal Survives Mixed Day For TravelSIM Team Australia At ISA World Longboard Championship

TravelSIM Team Australia will attempt to qualify for the finals of the 2013 ISA World Longboard Championship in Peru through the repechage rounds.

Teams of four competing in Men, Women and Junior divisions have assembled from more than 20 countries at the left-hand point break in northern Peru.

TravelSIM Team Australia consists of Jared Neal (Coffs Harbour, NSW), Ian Bell (North Haven, NSW) in the Open Men; Georgia Young (Swanbourne, WA) in the Open Women; and William Crowe (Collaroy, NSW) in the Junior Under 18 division.

In clean 4ft conditions on Day 3, Neal went into the repechage rounds after finishing third in his Round 3 main draw heat with a score of 11.57.

If a surfer is knocked out of the main draw for finishing third or fourth they still get a chance to qualify for the final through the repechage rounds but must finish first or second in each heat to continue to advance.

Bell started the day winning his Round 2 repechage heat with 13.82 but was then eliminated from the event after finishing third in Round 3 of repechage with a 10.17.

Young and Crowe did not surf on Day 3 and when the event resumes on Day 4 will be surfing for survival in Round 2 of repechage in their divisions.
