NEWS SPORT ALERT -- Queensland's Josh Constable wins Australian Pro Longboarding's Biggest Ever Prize!

Noosa's Josh Constable (Qld) today won Australian Professional Longboarding's biggest prize pool by winning the final event of the Suzuki Pro Longboarding Tour in excellent waves at Broken Head surf beach, Byron Bay.

A Suzuki Grand Vitara was the prize for today's winner, valued in excess of $30 000 along with $30 000 in prize money through the tour !

In a very tightly contested final that saw multiple changes in the lead, Constable edged out Coff's Harbour's Harley Ingelby with an excellent 8.4 ride which he picked up with just 3 minutes remaining in the 30 minute final! That 8.4 ride was the highest score in the final and reflected Constable' s do or die approach to the ride which saw him execute three major powerful bottom to top turn re - entries along with some timely nose rides through the sections.

Clearly excited with his big win after the final Constable said -

"What a dream! I can't believe I've won a brand new car and the series for 2005 - It was so close out there, I saw Harley get some great waves, I knew a needed a big score and that last ride just opened up for me and allowed me to pull the big moves - I was massively relieved to get that wave and figured it may have just snuck me to the lead - which, thank goodness - it did!"

Ingelby lead for most of the final with two good waves in succession at the 12 and 15 minute mark, posting a 7.76 and an excellent 8.13. In the dieing minutes he required an 8.2 to try and take the lead back from Constable and he searched for such a wave but could only find a smaller wave. Ingelby surfed his final ride for all he could, combining nost rides with his famous drop knee swooping cut backs, but the smallness of the wave simply didn't allow him the potential to score in the 8's and posted a 6.5 ride.

Both surfers won their way through to the final and to finish 1st and 2nd in the decider was the best possible finish to the season which has seen 5 events to the series run in NSW, Victoria and WA . Coming into today's final event just 35 points separated Constable and Ingelby and they knew whoever finished highest today would win the series and the Suzuki Grand Vitara valued in excess of $30 000!

The open women's final preceded the men's final and Tweed Heads surfer Chelsea Williams put on an amazing display to easily win the final - Williams is a multiple Australian Open champion and her skills shone through in the excellent long right peeling 1m waves - She scored two excellent 8 point rides which included nose rides, powerful on face moves and even a clean barrel ride to take the final.

A number of other divisions were surfed as part of the Suzuki tour - we'll update this release with results across all divisions ASAP!
