It was going to happen, just a matter of time when.

On Tuesday 24 May 2016 the World Surf League announced that it the Kelly Slater Wave Pool will become part of their reign. The most perfect artificial wave to ever exist will become part of the WSL after commissioner, Kieren Perrow gave the final word on its performance; the “feel that there was energy and power in that wave that resembled the ocean...”  said WSL CEO Paul Speaker to Surfline

"The wave's frickin' long, so you've got to have some muscles." KS.

Under the WSL's three-year acquisition they will work through how to adapt judging and formatting of competition to allow for the most invigorating and entertaining option. The best part for competitors will be there is no waiting period, when you're scheduled to surf, you're on and conditions are guaranteed near perfect.

The downside, well unless you're a purist, there's nothing bad about including one mighty fine wave to the event list and mixing things up a little. No, there is no search, there's no tides, no lure of the unexpected but c'mon the shape, length and possibilities of this wave are like a divine hypnosis. Don't believe us? Check out how many people have published this story today, KS Wave Pool doesn't even need a PR company.

A couple of questions still loom; Is there a left option, Kelly? And will you be allowed to compete?
