CHANCE OF A LIFETIME!

Think you know sharks? The DPI wants to know what you got.

Man! There’s a lot of shark experts out there! And by “experts”, we mean pretty much everyone who comments on a Shark Crisis article, here or anywhere else in the known surf media universe.

Which is why we almost cried with excitement when the following email, from Pamela Gallagher of NSW Fisheries Research, landed in our inbox this morning.

Hi,

I would like to advise you that the NSW Shark Management Strategy (SMS) Annual Competitive Grants program opens today and will close on 28 June 2017.

A total of $200,000 is available to support projects that align with the key objective of the NSW SMS to ‘increase protection for bathers from shark interactions while minimizing harm to sharks or other animals’.

For this second round of funding, the focus is on personal shark deterrents (e.g protective wetsuits, small electrical and magnetic devices).

Please find the details of this program, including how to apply, on our website.

We would appreciate you sharing this information throughout your networks.

Yes folks! You read this email correctly. The NSW Government has $200,000 ready and waiting to kick-start your best shark deterrent idea!

So don’t just leave your hard earned shark expertise lying around in the comments sections. Give it your best shot! But you can forget the rocket propelled Star Knife Fin System. That’s ours.
