The Australian Adaptive Surfing Championships were held over the weekend at Kingscliff on the far northern NSW coast. The small, clean conditions were perfect for the 22 competitors including the first ever women's division.
In recent years, the Adaptive Titles have grown in size and strength with assistance from the International Association (ISA) and the World Championships that they hold annually seeing a number of the athletes gain national and international recognition for their skill. (See 2016 World Adaptive Championship results)
On the weekend all the big names including World Champ Mark 'Mono' Stewart, Barney Miller, Jade 'Red' Wheatley, Dave Monk and Jake Matthews were all out in force to welcome to women to the event and new names in the lineup like Brad Lee and Ben Hurrell.
Congratulations to all the competitors and supporters at the event.
