Forecast Issued Tuesday, 12 June 2018

From an historical perspective the start of winter has been pretty subdued on the wave-front. Last weekend’s 4 to 6ft SSW groundswell was probably the largest event to grace the Archipelago throughout first half of June – and since then we’ve seen wave energy quickly subside, falling back into the 2 to 3ft range by Tuesday morning. While there’s still nothing major in the way of new swell events on the radar over the coming fortnight, the second half of June promises plenty of mid-sized surf as a series of overlapping groundswells keep set waves hovering around 4ft under moderate ESE tradewinds across exposed breaks. Beyond this weekend there’s a notable upswing in energy on the cards; linked to a larger low pressure complex that’s just beginning to coaslece over the Southern Indian Ocean.
