Pipeline

We might not have been unwrapping barrels for Christmas day but it looks like we could be unwrapping them on Boxing Day. Swell has jumped back up over night. North, North-West swell in the 8'-10' range. Trades are blowing with some very strong gusts at times and are suppose to get up around the 40 klms range today.

There are swell lines reaching out to nearly Third Reef Pipe but the swell is very short and messy as it's still building.

The sand needs to be moved from the channel at Pipe to make it work and Backdoor was closing out early but things can swing around very quickly here. Even just the first rays of sunshine coming over the top of the mountains changes how the ocean looks.

Pipe was full of body boarders early. They hit it before dawn at this time of year and the surfers start hitting it when the sun comes up. It could turn into a very good Pipe-Backdoor day but the ocean needs an hour or so to sort itself out. Lets just hope the Trade winds don't get too 'breezy'.

Aloha! - Peter 'Joli' Wilson
