Forecast Update

Wednesday 18 May 2016 - 4PM

Latest computer modelled projections have moderated the strength of surface winds generated by the low developing off Tasmania on Thursday night. This flows through to a downgrading of surf-potential across the board.

Never the less, it will still produce a large to heavy pulse of SSW groundswell for Fiji, peaking on Monday in the 8 to 12ft range at Cloudbreak. Across the Tasman Sea, New Zealand will also see a large SW swell kicking on Saturday afternoon and holding major size on Sunday. This will favour sheltered breaks like Raglan as southerly quarter winds greet the peak of the swell.

For the NSW coast, we’re still looking at a solid pulse of S swell starting to show across Sydney on Friday afternoon, with peak size expected to reach 3 to 4ft across Sydney on Saturday morning under light W winds.
