TravelSIM Team Australia Off to a Great Start on Day 1 of the Nicaragua ISA World Masters Surfing Championship

16/7/2012: TravelSIM Team Australia’s campaign at the Nicaragua ISA World Masters Surfing Championship kicked off in great style at Colorado Beach in Hacienda Iguana today.

It was a long day of optimal conditions for some of the best over-35-year-old surfers in the world. The Australian pairing of Robbie Page (Kempsey, NSW) and Dean Hall (Miami, Qld) put their supreme surfing skills on display in the picture-perfect conditions, as they chose the waves with the most scoring potential.

In heat three, Robbie Page (AUS) accrued a heat winning 10.00 total to defeat Reinaldo Ibarra (CHI), 6.84 and Raul Villas (PER), 5.83.

Dean Hall (AUS) was just as dominant, netting an 8.27 total to best Cesar Aspillaga (PER), 4.83 and Juan Andres Guerra (CHI), 3.44.

In the Men’s Grand Masters competition, Australian Mark Cameron (Woolgoolga, NSW) won his opening round heat, while Dave Hammond (Avalon, NSW) finished runner-up to Victor Peralta (DOM).

The afternoon high-tide made the conditions a little tricky for the later heats, but the surfing action for the Nicaragua ISA World Masters Surfing Championship continues tomorrow, July 16, at Colorado Beach at Hacienda Iguana in the Municipality of Tola, with the first Qualifying Round of Men’s Kahunas (over-45).

The event webcast will be live beginning at 7:40am local time (6:40am PST; 9:40am EST; 2:40pm in Paris; and 11:40pm in Sydney) with The Morning Show at www.isawmsc.com/live.

TravelSIM team is managed by Lee Schulze (Scamander, TAS).
