Matt King And Holly-Sue Coffey Take Soundwave Australian Junior Surfing Titles

Winners were decided across under 18 and under 16 Boys' and Girls' divisions at the 2012 Soundwave Australian Junior Surfing Titles which enjoyed good clean waves in the 1.25m range (3 feet plus) at Roaring Beach in southern Tasmania today.

The Boys' and Girls' under 18 divisions were won by Matt King (NSW/Ulludulla) and Holly-Sue Coffey (Qld/Gold Coast) respectively.

"It’s such a great feeling to be crowned Australian Junior Champion" said King after his win. "I've dreamed of winning an event like this and I can't explain it right now but I know it's an important stepping stone to where I want to go as a surfer. It will take a while to settle down for me but I feel great."

Holly-Sue Coffey was just as excited. The 14-year-old youngster was competing well above her age level and added to last year’s under 16 Australian title by winning today.

"That was a close final and I'm relieved to win,” she said. “I knew it was close and good waves were hard to find in the final but it feels great to win."

Under 16 winners were also decided today with Jacob Wilcox (Margaret River WA) and Holly Wawn (Newport NSW) victorious.
