Codie Klein (Kingscliff, NSW) Strikes For TravelSIM Team Australia In Panama

Kingscliff surfer Codie Klein was the standout surfer for TravelSIM Team Australia on Day 3 of the Reef ISA World Surfing Games in Panama.

The event on the right-hand, reef break at Santa Catalina has attracted more than 150 leading surfers from 24 countries. TravelSIM Team Australia is the defending champion after winning the title in 2011.

Klein enjoyed some of the better conditions on the day scoring 16.50 including a 9.50 for a convincing win in her women’s Round 2 main draw heat against Maria Lucia Cosoleto (ARG, 5.87), Faye Zoetmulder (RSA, 5.44) and Cristina Vargas (ECU, 1.0).

Dimity Stoyle (Sunshine Coast, QLD) made the most of the difficult conditions in her heat to also remain undefeated after two rounds with a score of 8.07.

When competition resumes tomorrow, Russell Molony (North Entrance, NSW), Wade Carmichael (Avoca, NSW) and Tim Macdonald (North Stradbroke, QLD) will be battling to stay in contention through the repechage rounds of the men's event. Thomas Woods (Burleigh Heads, QLD) is still in the main men's draw.

If a surfer is knocked out of the main draw for finishing third or fourth they still get a chance to qualify for the final through the repechage rounds but must finish first or second in each heat to continue to advance.
