Thomas Woods And Russell Molony Stay In Contention For TravelSIM Team Australia In Panama

10 May 2013 0 Share

Thomas Wood (Burleigh Heads, QLD) and Russell Molony (North Entrance, NSW) have continued to advance for TravelSIM Team Australia on Day 5 at the Reef ISA World Surfing Games in Panama.

The event on the right-hand, reef break at Santa Catalina has attracted more than 150 leading surfers from 24 countries. TravelSIM Team Australia is the defending champion after winning the title in 2011.

In small conditions, Woods finished second in his heat with a 9.43 to remain in the main draw. If he can continue to finish first or second in the next two heats he will qualify for the final.

Molony is battling through the repechage rounds to make the final and finished first in his Round 4 heat scoring 11.30 to stay in contention.

If a surfer is knocked out of the main draw for finishing third or fourth they still get a chance to qualify for the final through the repechage rounds but must finish first or second in each heat to continue to advance. Molony has six more repechage heats to survive before the final.

TravelSIM Team Australia also has Codie Klein (Kingscliff, NSW) and Dimity Stoyle (Sunshine Coast, QLD) still in the main draw of the women’s event.
