Stoyle, Klein And Molony In Finals Contention For TravelSIM Team Australia

TravelSIM Team Australia has three surfers in contention heading into the final day of the ISA World Surfing Games in Panama.

The event on the right-hand, reef break at Santa Catalina has attracted more than 150 leading surfers from 24 countries. TravelSIM Team Australia is the defending champion after winning the title in 2011 and currently sits in second place behind Brazil for the 2013 teams’ title.

Dimity Stoyle (Sunshine Coast, QLD) is still in the main draw, while Codie Klein (Kingscliff, NSW) and Russell Molony (North Entrance, NSW) will attempt to qualify for the final through the repechage rounds.

If a surfer is knocked out of the main draw for finishing third or fourth they still get a chance to qualify for the final through the repechage rounds but must finish first or second in each heat to continue to advance.

On Day 7, Stoyle recorded a first and a second with scores of 12.50 and 7.10 and will reach the final if she can finish first or second in her next heat. If Stoyle finishes third or fourth, she can still reach the final through the repechage rounds.

Klein had a second and third with scores of 8.23 and 3.56 in the main draw and must finish first or second in the next two repechage rounds to make the final.

Molony continues to charge through the repechage rounds finishing the day with a second (11.50) and a first (13.50). He still has three more repechage rounds to survive to make the final.

Thomas Woods (Burleigh Heads, QLD) was eliminated on Day 7. He was relegated to repechage after finishing fourth (11.07) in his main draw heat, but was then knocked out after placing fourth (6.77) in his first repechage heat.
