Woolamai, VIC/AUS (Monday 3rd March 2014): Damian Wilson (Jan Juc) has dominated the field in both the Over 35 and Over 40 Men to take top honours at the Be the Influence Victorian Masters Titles Presented by HIF over the weekend.

With light onshore winds and a rapidly building swell at Cape Woolamai, Wilson was the form surfer of the event consistently posting excellent scoring rides.

In both of his finals, Wilson scored massive heat totals over 17.00pts.

The Over 35 Men’s final saw excellent surfing from all competitors with the battle for first place between Wilson and Tim Birnie (Jan Juc).

Birnie also scored an excellent heat total of 16.40, however it was not enough to beat the in-form Wilson.

Placing in third and fourth was Adrian Maier (Phillip Island) and Mark Walker (Seaford).

The over 35’s Division also saw Michelle Fincher (Phillip Island) take out the state title in the women’s division.

The Over 40 Mens final was equally impressive with Damien Wilson again showing his form in the rippy re-forms, scoring the highest heat total of the day, a 17.60.

Adrian Maier and Mark Walker placed in second and third whilst Selim Delvean (Mornington Peninsula) finished in fourth place.

Reigning over 45 Men’s champion, Dave Matthews (Jan Juc), took out the title again beating old rival Gary Burns (Mornington Peninsula).

Martin Rennhackkamp (Lara) and Andrew Dell (St. Andrews Beach) placed in third and fourth.

The Over 50 Men saw the return of former Australian Champion Greg Brown (Jan Juc). Brown has not competed in a short board competition for over 20 years, opting for Longboard competitions.

He proved that he still has what it takes, placing first over Andrew Dell, Rowan Sapwell (Jan Juc) and Martin Rennhackkamp.

Steve Kay (Jan Juc) took out the over 55 men, in front of Grayme Galbraith (Jan Juc) and Phillip Island legend Dave Fincher. Tony Reid (Mornington) and Mark Loyd (Sandringham) finished in fourth and fifth.

The Be the Influence Victorian Masters Titles is presented by Be the Influence – Tackling Binge Drinking, HIF and Supported by Play it Safe by the Water, VicHealth and Team Up.
