The 2016 Women's World Championship Tour has wrapped up today on the island of Maui. After a week-long break between heats, the ladies got back in the water at Honoloua Bay despite the waves being few and far between.

Tyler Wright and Carissa Moore met in the finals. Wright spoke to Sean Doherty after winning the World Title in France where she openly discussed the emotional ups-and-downs of the year. Today Wright won her fifth event for the year taking down one of the most inform female surfers of all time at Honoloua Bay. Carissa was looking for the win to take momentum and confidence into 2017 but in the final moments as the judges reviewed the scores, Wright's last wave couldn't be beaten.

Wright's year consisted of one of the most dominant performance ever seen on the women's tour and the humble South Coast girl took home more prize money than any of the males. This final event was just one more box to tick, she commented to Strider after her win, "This was a block of work I wanted to get done before the year ended. It's really cool to get this block out of the way and knowing for next year I can go home, hang out with the fam and get ready for next year. It's better than lego right now, it's incredible. It's been a fantastic year... lots of love to my crew and everyone at home as well."

The Sunshine Coast's Keely Andrew was crowned 2016 Rookie of the Year with a great final performance at Honoloua Bay, where she also solidified her 2017 re-qualification.
