Hey, this is fun news. Today it was confirmed that Sydney will again be hosting a major QS with the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro set to return to Manly again in 2019 for a QS6000.

The event window will be March 16–24, 2019, making it a major warm-up event in the lead up to the first CT of the year a week later on the Gold Coast – the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast set to begin April 3.

Also, in addition to the men's and women's event of the Vissla Sydney Surf Pro, there will be a WSL Junior event on the opening weekend of the event, March 16-17.

The Manly area is intrinsic to Australian surfing history after both the first surfing demonstration around the corner at Freshwater Beach by the great Duke Kahanamoku went down in 1915 and the first ever World Surfing Championships were held at Manly in 1964 (won by legends Phyliss O'Donnell and Midget Farrelly), as well as the Coke Classic Surfabout in 1974, and countless other monumental touchstones in Aus surfing history. After the on again off again nature of the Australian Open of Surfing in recent times, it's a bloody ripper to see an event of this calibre return in successive years at Manly.
