On Friday May 3, 2019 the USANA SurfAid Cup returns to iconic Bondi Beach.

The SurfAid Cup was started in Manly in 2011 and is now a global event series. It has raised over $3.5m for humanitarian nonprofit SurfAid International.

SurfAid is an award-winning nonprofit started by concerned surfers in 2000 during a surf trip to the Mentawai. Embodying the positive values in surfing, namely individualism, courage, dynamism, and adaptability, SurfAid launched a malaria program in 2000.

Though it wasn't long before the Boxing Day tsunami turned SurfAid into an emergency response organisation overnight.

More recently, SurfAid’s work is focused on improving mother and child health with clean water & sanitation, basic healthcare and improved nutrition projects.

The USANA SurfAid Cup supports this life-saving work with teams of 4 fundraising to participate. Already teams have raised nearly $50,000 with each team being rewarded with a pro surfer who is allocated to their team by SurfAid.

This year’s impressive pro lineup includes Taj Burrow, Felicity Palmateer, Simon Anderson, Brad Gerlach, Cheyne Horan, Toby Martin, Jamie Krups, Kobi Clements, Blake Levett, Johnny Gannon and Sage Gubbay.

Taj is stoked: "Let’s get some waves for a good cause!" And Flick Palmateer says, "Having just returned from the Mentawai Islands, I know how beneficial days like these are."

This year’s event will see Bondi local teams from Aquabumps, Beach Road Hotel, The Bucket List, BeachGrit, Beach Burrito, Waverley College,  Pipeline Plumbing, Matraville Sports High, Fishbowl, Bondi Beach Public School, Power Living Bondi and city based BWM Dentsu, USANA and North & Bondi.

This year’s naming sponsor is USANA, the Cellular Nutrition Company, whose vision is to create the Healthiest Family on Earth.  Other event partners are Surfing NSW, The Bucket List, The Well, Fishbowl, CARVE, and Bound By Sea.
