Dustin Hollick has taken out the Paul Johannesen Memorial Competition for the second year running. The Contest was blessed with a solid North East groundswell which saw the event take place at Fortescue Reef in clean 4ft waves.
Hollick’s dream run continues after a strong placing at the Oneill Cold Water Classic WQS event and a 1st place finish at the West Coast Classic, He heads into the final event of the state round, The East Coast Classic in a commanding position.
Other standout performers included Will Bakker who finished 4th and won the Best Manouver award with a huge fins out re-entry, Andy Hoult who scored a 10 point ride with an amazing tube, also taking out the best tube award and young Hamish Renwick, who at only 16 years of age finished 3rd behind Dustin and Jy Johannesen who came 2nd.
The Open Womens was taken out by the forever young Jo Goldfinch, from Claire Mcmannus and Sam collins.
Overall The contest, in its 3rd year was another huge success being held in powerful and challenging waves.
A huge thanks goes out to all the sponsors, namely Red Herring, Sportsco Kingston, La Porchetta, Billabong, and the Christian Surfers who put on an amazing BBQ at the beach for the competitors and kindly donated the profits to an organisation of the Johannesen Family’s choice, which of course is the cancer council
