Volcom VQS hits D'Bah

2 Dec 2010 0 Share

The second stop on Volcom Stone’s Totally Crustaceous Tour kicked off at Duranbah Beach with pumping three-five foot peaks up and sunshine.

There was a big turn out with all division filling up really fast with some off the talent Qld and Northern NSW has to offer. Not everyone surfed in the event with big crowds of people packing the beach to win loads of giveaways up for grabs.

First up, the Groms ripped up the inside bowls with Volcom’s Quinn Bruce dominating the first few rounds before falling losing in the final to Chris Zaffis. Quinn also picked up a custom surfboard from Hammo for stand out performance of the day.

The girls had a very close final with only a few points between first and fourth.
Sopie Callister came off with the win, with Wini Paul in second place, Chiama Irland third and and Alysa Lock in fourth.

Next we had the juniors with Jake Cumberland coming away with the win, Izak Clifford in second, Jack Scollard third and Cody Daw in fourth. All surfed outstandingly throughout the day and relished in the perfect conditions that the famous beach break had to offer.

Dru Adler dominated the pro am division, winning the event with a crazy last wave in the dying seconds of the final. He managed to find a tube and finish the wave with a huge air reverse scoring a nine-point ride.
Also taking home 50 bucks for the Electric bolt thrower, not a bad day all in all for Dru.

The day finished with a presentation for all the finalists and presented them with huge prize packs for all their efforts. All finalists have qualified for the VQS Australian Championships to be held at Manly Beach on April 15–16, 2011.

Thanks to everyone who come down on the day and joined in the fun and games and to all who helped with the event. And a big thanks to our supporting friends:
