The Swell? Gold Coast Surf Reporter JC reports:

Last week we received the first taste of our Summer swell season. Although it was far from all time it was a good taste of things to come. Mid week, a messy ESE swell came up fed by a long fetch off a high pressure system, it was in the 3-5ft range accompanied by strong SE winds and abnormally big morning high tides. On Thursday it was quite messy but the north facing points were stretching out the bumps on the swell and there were some fun waves to be had at Noosa and from Snapper to Coolangatta.

Friday and Saturday were a touch smaller, but cleaner as a low pressure system slipped into place directly off to the East and the SE winds moderated also. Big school holiday crowds made things quite hectic over the swell as most of the surfing was confined to the points. The winds went around to the NE by Saturday afternoon and although it won’t go down as a swell event of any note, it was good to feel the energy in the ocean and to now wait and see if Cyclone Evan delivers us some more swell later this week.
