THIS WEEK IN SURFING and... The Return of The Champ

21 Dec 2012 0 Share

Have you done your Christmas shopping? No? Too busy procrastinating on the internet cause it's Friday and almost time to go surfing and not think about work till, like, January? Thought so.. Here are the best things to help procrastination this week. Go Parko!

1. Parko is The Champ

Yes he is, and if you don't know that by now then you probably don't care very much about professional competitive surfing, and that's fine. For everyone else: here are all the Joel Parkinson clips that came out in the days that followed Parko's World Title victory on Saturday (Aus time), the best is clearly the Final Day Highlights from Pipe. What a day that was.... It's Parkomania!

2. Albee Layer's Double Oop

Finally, the footage of Albee Layer's double alley oop is available to the interweb viewing surf public. Head to 8.30 on the clip to go straight to the moment.

3. Ozzie Wright is Still The Man

Ozzie just went and made himself family home surf movie, filled it with great music (Mozart cut to Desert Point = Genius!), called it Surf and Destroy and uploaded it to Vimeo for you to watch. It is awesome.

4. Epic New Zealand Surf Movie

This is as good as surf movies on the internet get. Coming in at just under half an hour, this is a proper surf film with amazing waves, great surfing and also some really beautifully shot backdrops. Congratulations to Damon Meade on a really good surf film. Who else is inspired to book a week or two to En Zed?

5. Creative Destruction's Odds and Ends

Another proper surf feature just hanging around on the internet for free. What's up with that? Must be a Christmas thing. This here is the final 25 minute film from Wade Goodall's web series, Creative Destruction. Props to Goodall and Jake Donlen/Runamuk Visuals on a great web series and fine movie to end it on. Yeeeooow!

6. Otis Carey's Movie

Speaking of dark and brooding aerial aficionados, Otis Carey has released the trailer to his upcoming film, Kill The Matador. Expect high energy and high aggression. Can't wait.

7. John Florence is Awesome

Oneill released this 8 minute clip of the Oneill team in Hawaii, and guess what, John Florence's section is outrageously good. Sheeesh, stop it already John.

8. Noa Deane Keeps Getting Better

...every clip he throws to the web is better than the last. The Gold Coast kid with the legendary bloodline (son of Wayne) is on the improve with style and innovation as seen in this edit from Indo.

9. Intoducing Pama Davies

Meet 16 year old North Bondi kid, Pamatatau Davies. He recently scored the cover of Stab Style and finished second in the Under 18 Australian Junior Titles by just 0.33. Expect more of this kid in surf circles and teenage girls' Tumblrs in 2013.

10. Josh Kerr is a Hero

Remember the last day of Pipe? You know, when Josh Kerr hurt his neck and was rushed to hospital? And then he came back and got slammed over and over but also did amazing things, like beating Kelly Slater in the semi-final and making his first CT final? Yeah you remember that because it was the performance of a dead-set hero.

And here is a clip of B-Sides when he was shooting for his next film (out next year) on his drive back from the Coldwater Classic at Santa Cruz. Legend! Merry Christmas from CW. Get shacked.
