THIS WEEK IN SURFING and... Kelly Surfs Pipe, Parko Surfs With a Tinny

25 Jan 2013 0 Share

Welcome to the week that was this week on the internet. There were surfing things and a whole lot of waiting for long weekend. So, what happened? These ten things did...

1. A Digital Book For The Champ

Billabong made this nifty little flick book for everyone's favourite Australian guy named Joel Parkinson. The World Title celebrations reign on!

Read it here.

2. Kelly

This thing is truly epic. Steve HArrington catches Kelly tucking into a Pipe bomb on dusk a couple of evenings ago. This is part of The Barrel, a series of clips and things in association with Carlton Dry that will bring more of this kind of goodness.

3. Shane Dorian Surfs Nazre

Is this the most terrifying beach break in the world? Shane Dorian doesn't mind. Holy inflatable wetsuit vests, this is crazy!

4. Mick Fanning Interview

We spoke to Mick Fanning in a most excellent convesation about the last twelve months. Mick = Legend!

5. Parko and Mad Hueys Tinny-Whip D-Bah

Parko hooks up with cool fishing guys and get whipped by a tinny into some D-Bah fun. Smells like summer.

6. Bindy Baggs

Belinda Baggs is regarded as one of Australia's most graceful wave riders, click play and see why. Beautiful.

7. Garret Parkes in Byron

Right now there are Byron Bay caravan parks, villas and motels full of kids and teenagers on family holidays  wishing they grew up in that town instead of Elwood… or Glenelg…. Garret Parkes did grow up in Byron. What a joy.

8. Young Guys Do The Freshness

The freshest clip we've seen in ages. Check out Cooper Chapman, Joel Ford and Asher Wales parody clip of the Blink 183 classic First Date.

9. Chippa Wilson

You can't have a week go by without a great little edit from our favourite tattooed Cabarita aerial innovating nice guy. You just can't!

10. Pete Mel Wins Mavericks Invitational Presented by Go-Pro

In the first ever running of this event, Peter Mel took out the trophy. Sponsored by Go-Pro it meant the event captured amazing footage, like below, even though it wasn't the classic giant disgustingly scary Mavericks we had hoped for.

That's it. That's all. Enjoy Straya Day and the long weekend. Drink in the sun and paste temporry tattoos of Australian flags to your chest. Actually, don't do that. CW Out.
