THIS WEEK IN SURFING and... The Best Week of Web Clips, like, EVER!

Arranged by Mike Jennings

What a week. The East Coast of Australia gets smoked by wind and swell while the West sniffs, "What's the fuss? It gets 8 foot over here all the time…" And on top of that, we were treated to pretty much the best week of free internet clips in yonks. Let's count down ten of the best.

1. Garrett McNamara Rides A Giant

No doubt the biggest story of the week is this footage of Nazare,Portugal. Garret McNamara got a mountain of a wave which had mainstream media all over the world reporting it as the first ever 100 foot wave to be ridden. Wild stuff.

2. The Sweet Glory of Banzai Pipeline.

Oh what a joy it was this week to log onto the internets and be met with clip after clip of epic Pipeline. The first one comes from young Aussie filmmaker Dylan Roberts's log of his time at Pipe in January. Jamie O's footage is outrageous. John John's edit from the very beginning of this year aside, this is the best surfing clip so far for 2013. Then came the lay day edits from the Volcom Pipe Pro which can best be described as surfing's bloodsport. Wild.

3. The Mid-length Gang at Keramas

Alex Knost, Jarad Mell and one of Australia's most talented surfers on any craft, Harrison Roach, take to Keramas in a most excellent clip called Special K and the Sea Badgers. How perfect is Knost's postioning? Also features Matt Chojnacki, Ellis Ericson and Tom Bexton.

4. Speaking of Mr. Knost

Speaking of Al Knost, how dreamy is this clip of him sliding around perfect waves in Bali and Costa Rica. Oh my, what a surfer!

5. Jordy Smith is Awesome

Yes. Yes he is. Here is in black and white ripping. Rapping not so good. But wave shreding, yes, very very good.

6. Kelly Slater Quikky Ad

Quiksiver's ad campaign this year has been sharp, none better than this one featuring the greatest surfer ever, surfing as well as ever. This is Kelly Slater's Urban Jungle.

7. Candid Josh Kerr

Have you met Josh Kerr? Is he the nicest guy on the World Tour? Probably. He's also the best surfer on the tour who hasn't won an event yet. We love Kerrsy. Watch this and get to know him a little better.

8. Matt Banting

Remember him? Of course you do, it's Matt Banting. Good clip surfing around the Hunter Refion and Northern NSW to start off his year. We're expecting a solid QS campaign from the young fella.

9. Our New Favourite Surfer

Is a guy called Choke Eggy (Nathan Colburn). Hands down the funniest approach to wave riding seen in some time.

10. Long Hairs To The Rescue

Two surfers featured on the Today Show for rescuing some French tourists. You might know them, if you do, you're a lucky human because Nick Chalmers and Angus McNicol are deadset legends! Props to Karl Stafanovic on the fist pump at 2.20 as well.

Also…

Australia won the ISA event in China. Hooray for Mitch Crews, (who also finished second in the 4 Star event that ran directly after – Caio Ibelli took the trophy)!

That's it for the week. Have a good weekend! CW out.
