10 Things Surfing Gave The Internet This Week
Presented by the Fitzroy Lions, because deep in our hearts everyone barracks for Fitzroy

1. Bryce Young Rips

Is this the best alaia surfing you've ever seen? Incredible, beautiful surfing from Bryce Young.

2. Parko Signs on As SurfAid Schools Ambassador

The legend!

3. John John Pulls Out of Rio

The young superstar and defending champion of the Billabong Pro Rio has pulled out of the event to take extra time for the recovery of the ankle he injured in an expression session of the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast this year. Bummer.

4. Rob Machado's New Web Series

In which Rob showcases interesting people he's met in his life as a surfer. First up is Jay Nelson, a San Francisco surfer turned carpenter-artist-type-dude. The sort of surf-culture stuff that most everyone loves. Watch it.

5. Surf Mag Makes The News

Tracks Magazine came under fire this week when they posted a photo of an illicit substance (weed, cannabis, grass, the devil's lettuce) on Instagram with one of their issues along with the caption, "Some things never change." Tracks Editor Luke Kennedy told News.com, "What we do at times is give someone access to our Instagram account for a party or something of that nature.

"It looks like one of those parties, one step removed from our inner sanctum, has posted something in a casual setting."

Full story over here.

6. Mason Ho Launches Website

One of surfing's most entertaining, Mason Ho, has finally launched his own site. Currently it has one video that is as great as we've come to expect from the Hawaian legend-dude-man-guy. Lay-backs, soul-arches and generally exceptional style a-plenty. Check out Burgers In Paradise here.

7. Surf-Art... Sart?

If you dig on art, cartoons, humour and surfing, you should get to know Nanda Ormond. The talented Kiwi artist has been providing Surfing World (and on occassion Coastalwatch) with art, doodles and caricatures for a few years now. All his work compiled in one place, click through and get lost. Nanda says : "Now all's I gotta do is let it gather dust for the next two years until my next overhaul. Ahhh, Web Developer TICK." Ahh the lols.

8. Speaking of En Zed... Support Ricardo!

In a move we haven't seen before in surfing, lovable Kiwi shred-head has set up a sportfunder page to help him compete on the QS and ultimately qualify for the WCT. Check it out and feel generous over here.

9. Luke Schuetrumpf Loggin' Clips

Young, Free, Alright! featured filmmaker with the hardest last name to spell... like, ever, Luke Schuetrumpf dropped this gem of a clip. Logging and metal featuring Troy Elmore and Matt Chojnacki, ALRIGHT!

Have a gander at our Young, Free, Alright series.

10. ASP Totes Got A Tumblr

Like, OMG. Mr. Market Research told us that this will defs get the Gen Yers with their iPhones and Instagrams and tech speak. They've already fitted out the site with the trend of saturated photos overlayed with quotes in a nice font. All joking aside, this is definitely a nice site to look at good surfing images and GIFs

It's the weekend. Treat yourself to a muffin, celebrate the little victories! CW out.
