This Week In Surfing... July 19, 2013
Ten Things Surfing Gave The Internet This Week
Life is hard... not, like, proper depression in the 30s hard. Or struggling to survive famine in Africa hard. But still, life can be tough. You wake up every morning, head off to school or work, you bust your arse for a whole long and your teacher or boss is a jerk. That's why when it comes to the weekend you gotta make sure you enjoy that 48 hours of bliss. Do fun things, and maybe even spend some time watching all your favourite surf clips from the past seven days. And here they are:

1. Steph Gilmore Takes Out Another Espy
"Our Steph" took out the ESPN ESPY Award for Best Female Action Athlete on Wednesday. She won the same award back in 2010, but the 5 time World Champ new to the Roxy roster has again cemented her awesomeness to the mainstream American sports media. Yeah Steph.
2. Chippa Wilson For Fox In Bali
Remember when Chippa didn't have a sponsor for ages. Then he signed with Fox… Yeah, well this is his first clip for his new team and it's of him showing his prowess as probably the most gifted technical aerialist in surfing. Onya Chip!
3. Mitch Coleborn by Kai Neville
Mitch Coleborn runs a lil sunglass company with Dion Agius and Kai Neville called Epokhe. Makes sense then that Kai and him would make this clip together to promote it. One of the best freesurfers in the world (and likley 2014 World Tour competitor) with the biggest surf filmmaker in the world… too good.
4. Reef Doig
Expect to see a lot more of this young Indo-Australian, Reef Doig.
5. Introducing The Shark Proof Wetsuit
A wetsuit that is (kinda) shark proof? Interesting... Do you think you'd feel any safer out at a desert rockshelf alone, waiting for that last wave in on dusk?
6. The King and I (or Pama)
A weekend with hot young Australians Pamatetau Davies and Matt King going surfing.
7. Clay Marzo
So the story goes, Hawaiian Clay Marzo visited his mate Ry Craike in West Aus a while back and fell head over heels in love with the place. Now, the West Australian filmmaker, Tom Jennings, and Clay make a great filmer/surfer duo.
8. Matt Banting
Imagine being able to surf for one day with the talent of Matt Banting. Imagine flyingso high through the air, landing so smooth and not complaining of a sore back or bruised ankles. This is what it looks like when one of Australia's best surfers spends some Winter time at home.

9. Jordy Lawler and Nikki Van Dijk Take Out Pro Junior
While Ellie Jean Coffey and Jake Sylvester took out the whole series, it was young Jordy and Nikki who won the Be The Influence Surf Pro at Coffs Harbour last weekend.
10. Ray Ban and Cyrus Sutton
Cyrus Sutton, of Korduroy tv fame is one of our favourite icons of modern surfing. We're fans. Seems Ray Ban are too, 'cause they made this sweet little clip on him. Anybody else wanna sell their house and live a life on the road?
Bonus...
Have you ever wanted to watch Alex Knost's band Tomorrow's Tulips with Beavis and Buthead? Well, want no more:
And that was this week in surfing. Have a good weekend. CW out.
